Manners matter

Every day we’re told that we need to be special. We need to stand out from the crowd. Well, that’s true, I know, but what about manners? It is my humble ordinary-bloke opinion that in this day and age of unique-ness, manners are getting left behind and becoming famous is considered more important. Follow my lead, people, and do these things to keep manners alive:

1) Forget the stupid politics of it, if you see someone struggling with a door, open it for them. Only if you’re within near distance, of course. If you’re about 500 metres away then you will look pretty strange when you run over through a crowd of people to help out.

2) Music on trains and buses: sometimes you’ll sit there with a load of other people and someone will be playing their music too loud. Do you have to put up with it? No. Just ask them to please turn it down a bit. Nine times out of ten they don’t have a machete and aren’t at all angry, don’t worry.

3) Spitting on the street is nasty. Worse when it’s in the train station: that’s just not on. Feel free to tell people off for this, but do so with caution. It also helps if you are over 7 feet tall and look threatening.

4) People talking too loudly is a violation of the airwaves, make no mistaking! Be sure to point this out to people who commit the crime. Even if they work at D Q Global and clearly have millions of pounds, that is no excuse for annoying everyone around them, is it?
