I’m all about the R4i!
As all us gamesters know – and if you don’t then seriously, hurry up and get with the program! – the R4i Card and the Nintendo DSi changed the game in terms of mobile gaming and what’s possible to cram into a small, hand-held console. Using the powerful card – and when we say powerful we mean this little puppy can hold tons of games and even movies if you like – you can be on the train or bus or walking and have access to all your favourite games. And, as if all this wasn’t a sight of gorgeousness to behold, we have the never-less-than-awesome ‘augmented reality'thing which takes full advantage of your console’s camera. Now, how’s that for a flippin'brilliant thing?
For any newcomers who aren’t aware of what augmented reality is, here’s a quick lesson. Using some pretty nifty software and pointing the camera at stuff which is wherever you are, you can play wondrous games which utilize furniture and the like to create the best gamin experience yet! In other words, it really is impressive, and one of the most impressive things about it is how you can interact with it…

See, by moving the console around and shifting your viewpoint, the image on the screen – an image which is as 3D as it comes – also shifts and moves accordingly. It means that what you see really does appear to be there. This means that suddenly gaming isn’t confined to the indoors anymore, or even what’s on your screen. Using this latest technology, a whole universe of possibilities are unleashed for us to play with as we like!
Of course, we know what you might be thinking if you’re a stranger to this: you’ll be questioning whether or not this is really all that good. Well, here’s the thing: it actually damn well is! In this case 3D isn’t a gimmick at all. What it is is fun, enriching and something which can get exceedingly addictive…and we should know, right?
If you’re still wondering why the DSi is worth investing in, let us re-iterate that you can watch movies on it, play games on it and listen to your favourite music on it too. In other words, it’s the most complete multimedia experience that there possibly is and it does all these things impossibly well for such a small and compact device! Now, don’t you think that’s something for us all to shout about?
